Raising cattle has been incredibly rewarding for us, the "Cowabungas" here entertain us with their moo'ing, like to come to the top pasture to see what the humans are up to, and beg for treats which they devour in the blink of an eye. Our Angus steer are family raised and pasture grazed; they spend their days lounging, eating and enjoying life, as they should.
Our cattle are raised and harvested on-site, we take pride in knowing our animals are well cared for and respected while they are with us. The delicious beef provides meals for our family, and is also available for purchase.

There's nothing like fresh, free range eggs! Our chickens are spoiled, having free range of the ranch, but also having the security of being tucked into their custom chicken coop and protected by their livestock guardian dogs at night.
Our Nigerian Dwarf Goats are extremely social, and curious of humans. We raise this fun breed for their compact size, fun personalities and amazing milk. On occasion, we offer up Nigerian Dwarf Goats as pets!
We also raise Boer Goats! Our Boers are full sized goats who have natural horns, loving personalities, and like our other animals, are very curious about humans. We raise this breed primarily for meat, and occasionally sell them as pets as well.
This heard of goats is truly an entertaining bunch and we enjoy giving our visitors the opportunity to hang out with these adorable animals. Who doesn't want to feed animal crackers to goats and take a few goat selfies?
The heard of horses at Ascension Ranch is a mix of breeds, ages and backgrounds. Some may say they are spoiled, grazing in large rolling pastures with views for days and receiving lots of TLC, but they also have important jobs around the ranch, being employed as our trusted steeds.
We offer pony rides, basic horsemanship sessions, and private trail rides for those who are looking to spend some time with the horses, and explore the amazing scenic trails around Folsom Lake.
If you're coming to ride, bring your boots, pants, helmet, and camera!
LAMB & SHEEP
We raise a mix of Barbados, Saint Croix and Dorper which are all polled hair sheep, meaning they have no horns and they have hair that sheds instead of wool that must be sheared. They are prized for the mild sweet flavor of their lean meat. We sell market lambs for slaughter, and occasionally our sheep are sold as breeding stock, either individually or in larger counts as starter flocks.
Our current ram, "Ramsey Sham Wow" is a flashy but kind gentleman, taking good care of his ladies.
